Incase you don’t want to get bored, you can skip the next paragraph and read on.
One of the things I Love about quotes is how they can capture so much truth with so few words. How they portray relatable feelings without telling tales. This is what makes quotes so great, they encapsulate the ideologies of great men, of people we’ve never met and allows us gaze into their minds and perspectives.
Basically, the point (incase you skipped the above paragraph) is that I Love quotes very much. It’s like a compressed version of someone’s thoughts.
I stumbled on this particular quote that reminded me why I Love quotes as much as I do, here it goes:
This is a very common (internal) debate we often have to deal with, The Great Debate of everyday if I should call it that.
If you can relate to this, let me see your hands up. I’m guessing many hands are up now (even if you only raised them in your mind), because a whole lot of us are torn (daily) between “Having a blast” & “Making Impact”. Sometimes they’re not mutually exclusive, but I dare say that most times they are. We can have fun while changing the world, but that often comes after we’ve put in the much needed work.
A lot of us (like myself) wish we could just change the world and make maximum impact while doing ONLY what we Love, but that is not so.
“We do what we have to do, so we can do what we want to do” James Farmer Sr (The Great Debaters)
Think about it, many people don’t like reading, or going to work, or hitting the gym and stuff like that, but without it, how can you be educated and enlightened enough to be relevant in your world, or have enough money to take care of your needs and those of your loved ones, or wear those clothes you so wish you could wear?
It’s not just enough to seek the fun in things, sometimes realizing that winning is fun (at the end of the day) gives you a better perspective to doing the needful everyday you get up.
So, everyday you wake up and wish you could save the world or just really have fun, decide what is most important to you, plan your activities around it and at the end you’ll realize that;
“Even without planning to have fun, You can have fun, but hardly can you ever make impact without deliberate plans and efforts”
HAPPY NEW MONTH Friends, may your month (and life) be utterly filled with FUN & IMPACT!
